LATVIA - Visa Latvija CD-ROM CD-ROM directory with 36,500 Companies in 2,500 Business Type from Latvia. The main aim of the program is to supplement the versions of telephone directories already published by TeleMedia Ltd. This software is developed to facilitate the advanced search of companies and
offer additional possibilities to work with information.
Ordinary search options are located in the main window of directory’s viewer.
The main window contains three scrollable panels: - · List of Headings panel
- · List of Areas panel
- · List of Companies panel
In addition to the above mentioned, list in the main window supports two kinds of advertisements: - ·small size company’s ad
- ·company’s banner
Filtration of information in lists
Every list seen in this window operates separately as a filter for information reflected in the list. Above every list is an entry field where the substring
of text can be entered manually. After entering symbols in the entry field, the system automaticaly filters lines whose title contains such a substring. If several substrings are entered into the field of search, software automatically selects lists with all entered substrings and shows information acquired.
Filtering of companies from Headings and Areas
Firstly, the initial status of Search is to be defined, when the line All Headings is highlighted in the List of Headings as well as the line All Areas is highlighted in the list of Areas.
Frankly, to set an Initial Status of Search, the line All Headings and All Areas must be simply highlighted by a click of a mouse.
Secondly, the Initial position of a Search must be reached by choosing an Option: System>New Search. In this case, all listings available are shown.
The selection of companies in the Heading and Area preferred by user can be accomplished in two ways as follows:
·Selection of companies by Heading list;
·Selection of companies by Area list.
The choice depends on which List, Heading list or Area list the line is highlighted first of all after the Search initial position .
Filtering of companies from the Heading list
If after entering Search initial position a subheading is activated in the Heading list the following operations take place:
·In Area list - all Areas are being filtered in the currently selected area with companies attached to, ·In Company list companies are being filtered which are located in highlighted Heading.
To specify the location of company, user can activate Area currently selected in the List of Areas. After an activation of area only one operation takes place – in Company list companies are filtered, which are being located in activated heading and area.
Note. Take into the consideration, activating of Area in Heading list those subheadings, which are located in already activated Area are not being
filtered unlike to the version, when after Search initial position the area is activated promptly. (for more detailed instructions look into Filtration of companies by the List of Areas).
Filtering of companies by Area list
Secondly, companies located in specific area must be found by choosing the Initial position of Search and activating the necessary inhabited area in Areas list afterwards.
In this version, after activating area the following operations take place:
·In Heading list - all subheadings with organizations attached to the currently selected area are filtered. ·In Company list - all companies located in selected Area are filtered. To specify activity of company, user can select necessary subheading or specialization from subheadings selected in Heading list. After activating
heading or specialization only one operation takes place companies situated in activated area and heading are filtered and shown in Company list.
Note. Take into consideration, activating Area in Area list, areas ated in already activated heading are not being filtered unlike to the version, when after Search initial position the area is activated promtly. Small size ads of companies
Just right from the Oganisation list, small size ads of companies are shown. Small size ads are attached to the companies selected from Company list. Only companies currently filtered from Company list are shown. TeleMedia ad is to be shown if none is selected from the list or there is no company with a small size ad attached to the currently activated list.
Banners of companies
Banners are shown in the field which is situated at the bottom of a main window under Company list.
Advanced Search of companies
Option Advanced Search provides the search of companies according to the following options combined with the help of logical operation known as ”AND”:
- ·Company name;
- Address;
- ·Phone number;
- ·A word from company’s information;
- ·Chosen heading and area.
Unlike to a Main window Advanced search, offers user a possibility to indicate which part of the text is to be searched by entered substrings. The
system provides the search of entered string as follows:
·in any place of text – ”Substring of text”; ·at the beginning of words in the text – ”Beginning of words”; ·at the beginning of text line – ”Beginning of text line”.
To explain the differences between these possibilities, let’s assume that in the company’s title field is entered the string ”WER”.
In the first case, (the chosen search mode ”Substring of text”), which is maintained also in a Main window , companies will be selected as it is shown here as an example:

Company’s information
The option of full-style info shows the information of company selected in Company list of Main window. This full-style info corresponds to the information available to the publishers of this directory.
This option holds following functions: -
·show large advertisement;
- ·show video advertisement;
- ·show information of the next company (organizations selected from Company list);
- ·show information of the previous company (companies selected from Company list).
Printing of labels
This option enables to print organization labels selected in a Main window in Company list on different type labels.
This option can be acquired in a Main window by selecting companies in Company list, which user wishes to print on envelope labels by pushing a button:
If necessary, there must be entered recipient for which envelope labels will be printed (eg. Accounting office). In addition, in Accessible label types list there should be indicated the type of label sheet, on which labels will be printed.
Company’s video ad
This option enables viewing of company’s video ad. Video ad is available for companies, which have ordered it to the directory publishers.
Company’s large advertisement
This option enables viewing a large images of ads. Large ad is available for those companies, which have ordered it to the directory publishers. |
